John T. Sullivan earned his law degree from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1987. Before co-founding Sullivan Green Seavy, he worked for two Denver law firms and as a sole practitioner. Mr. Sullivan has represented individuals, local and national corporations, and government agencies in litigation involving land use, real estate, business, commercial, bankruptcy, and environmental law. Mr. Sullivan has tried cases in state and federal courts, bankruptcy courts, and represented clients in arbitrations and administrative proceedings.
Mr. Sullivan's courtroom experience includes cases involving contract and lease disputes, easement disputes, probate matters, disputes among small business owners, claims for contamination of land, trespass, adverse possession, and quiet title and lien foreclosures. He has also prosecuted and defended parties in many different types of proceedings in bankruptcy courts, represented county governments in actions involving land use regulations, and represented the FDIC, FSLIC and RTC in real estate litigation arising in bank receiverships.
Mr. Sullivan is licensed to practice in all state and federal courts in Colorado and the United States Court of Claims. In the community, Mr. Sullivan has served on the Board of Directors for the CU Alumni Association, the Boulder Rotary Club, the Boulder History Museum and the Boulder Swim Team.
After serving as Town Manager for Oak Creek and Yampa, Colorado, and Assistant City Manager for the City of Steamboat Springs, Barbara Green earned a J.D. degree from the University of Colorado law school in 1985. Since that time, she has been practicing environmental and land use law. She has represented clients in matters involving land use and development, oil and gas development, mining, water development, water quality, and low-level radioactive waste. Barbara has substantial experience in rulemaking, administrative proceedings, and litigation in state and federal district and appellate courts.
Ms. Green also serves as special counsel to county and municipal governments during complex land use permit application proceedings, and litigation involving challenges to local government authority. She has prepared numerous local government land use codes and environmental regulations, including the Model Colorado Land Use Code for Medium Size Counties. She is General Counsel to the Rocky Mountain Low-Level Radioactive Waste Compact, General Counsel to Northwest Colorado Counsel of Governments, and Town Attorney to the Town of Silver Plume. As a member of the west slope negotiating team, Ms. Green helped bring about the historic Colorado River Cooperative Agreement between the Denver Water Board and the west slope of Colorado.
Ms. Green is a member of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board, and University of Denver Water Law Review Advisory Council. She also serves on the boards of Colorado Conservation Voters and Colorado Common Cause. Barbara holds a B.A. from Northwestern University, an M.P.A. from the University of Colorado in Boulder, and a M.H. from University of Colorado at Denver. Ms. Green is certified by the Colorado Department of Local Affairs as a qualified ADR professional in the Intergovernmental Land Use Dispute Resolution Program.
Jo Lauren Seavy has a law degree from the University of Denver College of Law, where she was a member and published author of the Law Review and a member of Family Law Quarterly. Ms. Seavy is a third generation attorney in Colorado. Since her admission to the Bar in 1988, Ms. Seavy has developed a broad base of skills and experience in civil, domestic and appellate matters. She focuses her practice on domestic and family law matters, including divorce, parental responsibilities (custody) parenting time (visitation), child support, property division, maintenance, post-dissolution modifications, pre and post-nuptial agreements, and complex multi-state jurisdiction matters.
Ms. Seavy also devotes a substantial part of her practice to estate planning and probate matters. She is experienced in preparing estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney and living wills. She also assists clients in establishing guardianships and conservatorships, and represents the personal representatives of estates in handling all matters relating to the probate of an estate. In addition, Ms. Seavy has substantial experience representing clients in highly contested probate litigation.
In striving to accomplish a client’s goals and objectives, Ms. Seavy is committed to exploring settlement possibilities through negotiation, mediation or other forms of alternative dispute resolution. If a dispute must be resolved in court, Ms. Seavy has over twenty years of courtroom experience in a wide range of different matters. She has successfully litigated cases throughout the state of Colorado and appeared before the Colorado Court of Appeals and Colorado Supreme Court.
